The service

Zero-Trace Chat lets you create or join a temporary chat room using a numeric code. Rooms are automatically and permanently deleted after a short period. You may use the service anonymously as a guest, or create an optional account for a persistent identity.

Account responsibility

If you create an account, you are responsible for keeping your password and recovery phrase safe. We cannot reset your password without the recovery phrase, and we cannot recover a lost recovery phrase. Choose a username that does not impersonate another person or organization.

Acceptable use

By using this service, you agree not to use it for:

• Anything illegal under the laws applicable to you
• Harassment, threats, or abuse directed at others
• Sharing or soliciting child sexual abuse material, or any content sexualizing minors
• Distributing malware, or attempting to disrupt or attack this service
• Any activity intended to exploit, deceive, or defraud another user
• Creating a username that impersonates another person, brand, or this service itself

Limited ability to respond to abuse

Because this service is designed not to retain conversation content, we have limited technical ability to investigate specific incidents after the fact, even for account holders. Do not use this service for illegal activity on the assumption that anonymity or an account makes it consequence-free.

No warranty

This service is provided "as is," without guarantees of uptime, availability, or fitness for any particular purpose.

Age requirement

You must be 16 or older to use this service. By checking the consent box before entering the app, you confirm you meet this requirement.

Changes to the service or these terms

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of this service at any time, including accounts. We may update these terms; continued use after an update means you accept the revised terms.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any damages arising from your use of this service, including anything said or shared by other users in a chat room, or loss of access to an account due to a lost password or recovery phrase.
